Self Harming
As Parents learn more about SH (self harm) and DSH (deliberate self-harming) they are often amazed to discover that it is so widespread amongst young people.
The more they read, the more confused they often become as they try to use ‘old fashioned’ logic to make sense of this frightening condition.
When they try to put themselves in the shoes of their Children, they want to understand if it is about attention seeking, expressing sadness or anxiety or is it deep distress that makes their children take such drastic action?
When you contact Simon click here he will sympathetically discuss how his experience and knowledge may help your family and he will explain the various forms that self-harming can take including cutting, burning and scratching skin, taking overdoses of medication or potentially harmful chemicals, remaining in abusive or destructive relationships or developing eating disorders, binging on alcohol and drug taking.
He will also help you to help your Child deal with their emotional and physical needs so they can feel ‘normal’ again and not live their often secretive life feeling angry, isolated and aggressive and believing that harming themselves is their only solution of letting out their pain or distracting themselves from ‘reality’.
