Hypochondria

We all feel under the weather at some point in our lives and we make a decision to ‘brush it off’ and carry on with our everyday lives or give in to it and take some time at home in bed with medication from the pharmacy and try to ‘sleep it off’.

Unfortunately for some, their presenting symptoms may be more serious and quite correctly they should immediately seek the advice of their GP who will diagnose a course of treatment.

However, for the Hypochondriac these options are often not sufficient to satisfy their need to question every blemish, ache, pain and symptom – no matter how common place they may be.

They consequently research their ‘complaint’ via the Internet or medical reference books and with little or no knowledge they may self diagnose. Then they obviously feel even more concerned as they have an ‘amateur’ diagnosis without a ‘professional’ course of action.

Then they panic and worry when they learn about the most ‘extreme’ cases and find themselves spiraling into stress, worry and anxiety as they fear the ‘worst’.

Even when a Hypochondriac seeks professional help, they believe that their ‘symptoms’ suggest a ‘serious illness’ and despite the most stringent tests and procedures, they are not convinced that the overwhelming medical evidence to support their ‘non condition’ is sufficient to allow them a clean bill of health.

They therefore may seek a ‘second opinion’ or demand that the equipment used is ‘serviced’ or re-calibrated as it surely must be faulty!

It should be noted that the sufferers of Hypochondria are not always looking to find ways of opting out of everyday life or finding excuses to delay undertaking chores and tasks (as many onlookers often cynically perceive) but they may legitimately believe that they are ill and can seek continual assurance from their GP’s, their friends and family as they search for answers.

Simon uses MindMeasuring™ to ‘re-calibrate’ the negatives and the positives to create a level playing field of ‘normality’ whilst his Client get’s used to feeling that they can rely on their own judgement and that of their GP.

This allows their GP to assess their true state of health and when their patient is be able to trust the judgement of the team of Medical Professionals around them, they can hopefully go on to lead a long, happy and healthy life.

Simon insists that any new Client planning to seek his help with Hypochondria must first meet with their GP to discuss their symptoms and concerns and obtain their recommendation and endorsement of his experience and methodology and qualifications prior to booking their first appointment with him.

For the convenience of his Clients, Simon accepts all major credit/debit cards.
